Justice and Community Services is designated the State Administrative Agency (SAA) for the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). This funding is awarded annually to the State of West Virginia in order to obtain and maintain compliance. The WV State Police were ordered by WV State Code §15-2-25 in 1993 to establish and maintain a central registry of all individuals required to register as a sexual offender. The WVSP were required to maintain a central registry of all persons who register under this article and release information only as provided in this article.
